WEDDING PLANNING: HONEYMOON AND TRAVEL
THE SAD FACT.
Sadly, many of today's couples are not going on a honeymoon. Or, at least right away as many couples defer the honeymoon to a later date as their budget allows. Many of the couples here in California, resort to a weekend retreat to such destinations as Napa Valley, Reno or Tahoe, which are beautiful places in and of themselves, but typically not the type of honeymoon you envision when you dream of your wedding day.
But don't despair, because with careful financial planning, you can have the honeymoon of your dreams that make the perfect footnote to your wedding experience! If an exotic honeymoon is what you desire, then plan for it early! As we recommended in our budget page, you must put the things that mean the most to you at the top of your budget list, and for you this would mean that you "Put the honeymoon at the top of your budget list!"

Below are the World's 50 Best Honeymoons from Modern Bride magazine's August/September 2004 survey of travel agents. The travel agents ranked good value, cruise lines, sports/adventure, over-the-top luxury, and resorts with spas as honeymoon trends. Among the findings:

Things like the honeymoon registry (which we were surprised to find that many brides were not aware of this), a money dance at the reception or even asking for monetary gifts (oops, you're going against etiquette!), can help you achieve this wonderful dream of having a honeymoon in Barbados, or Sandals in Jamaica man!
One last thought with respect to honeymoon and travel! If this is THE most important thing for you, consider having a 'destination wedding'!
This puts the burden on your invited guests (assuming you are not paying for their travel and lodging). But at least you will be AT the honeymoon location Already!
